Ibiza – The Quiet Side

From what you’ve likely heard and maybe even experienced, Ibiza is world-renowned for being a party goers paradise. Even now when I hear the name my mind is filled with images of noisy clubs, beach bars, electronic music and a sultry atmosphere. When I decided to go, I had an expectation that I may experience at least some of this by default, but the holiday I had was far removed from the dream I had been sold.

The time of year made all the difference. During peak season I imagine it’s a whole different vibe, but visiting in May when things were just warming up, was both a delight and a relief. The weather was hot enough for a t-shirt and swimwear, and the beaches were fairly full – quite enough, but not too much.

Knowing at least that it would be a picturesque vacation, I was determined to get some great quality pictures but didn’t want to lug anything too heavy around, so I opted to take my “daily carry”, the Canon M6 Mark ii (+ 22mm pancake) along for the ride.

I was not disappointed by my camera choice. As much as I’m not an advocate for any particular camera brand, I have had extensive experience using Canon cameras, and the M6 Mark ii has been a delight to use, both for everyday use but especially for holidays (such as Ibiza). Given its compact design, it turned out to be the perfect companion to offer portability.

Even though the M6 has been discontinued, I still find the 32 megapixel sensor more than adequate to capture the details of serene views, seascapes and cherishable moments.
